It’s Time for a Tipping Point – Gender Imbalance in Top Leadership … What can we do about it?

Kristen Pressner
-

The World Economic Forum states it will take 83 years to close the global gender gap. The number of women CEOs of Fortune 500 companies decreased by more than 12% in 2017.

Confidence gap, double bind, gender pay gap, office housework, imposter syndrome…it feels like we’ll never get to gender balance in top leadership.

According to Malcolm Gladwell, the tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire.

What 3 key takeaways can you expect from joining the session?

  • a clear understanding of the root cause of gender imbalance in top leadership
  • a fast, free, powerful-yet-pragmatic tool for catching bias that we may not even be aware of
  • that ‘one more thing’ that will enable each of us to contribute to hitting that elusive tipping point

Lead for Dignity

Dr. Michelle Pizer
-

The notion of dignity is often reserved for the dying. Turns out, the words ‘dignity at work’ are the kiss of death to a conversation. But not: ‘I’m doing a PhD on relationships and emotions at work’. Then the stories pour forth, primarily of dignity being violated rather than honoured.

It’s not that we expect workplaces to be perfect. Even those with ‘successful’ careers experience both rewards and disappointments. It’s just that dignity is hard to talk about.  And an indignity is even harder because it might be a career-limiting move.

In this session, you will learn what dignity is and what it takes to lead for dignity. It is so fundamental that it is often taken for granted and overlooked. You will also discover that not all indignities are created equal. There is one indignity that is a deal breaker at work that all leaders need to know about if you want people to bring their whole and best selves to work. You will walk away knowing what to avoid along with three key practical strategies for enhancing the dignity of those you lead.

Conquering Blame: The Key to Inclusionary Leadership

Ed Gurowitz
-

We willexamine the roots of bias using the Karpman Drama Triangle, explore a new, self-generated paradigm as an alternative and engage in exercises to practice switching between the two. Traditionally, leadership has lived in the Blame paradigm. An old adage suggests that organizational leadership could be summed up as “search for the guilty, punishment of the innocent, rewards for the uninvolved.” It’s hard to think of a better summary of the culture of blame.

Inclusionary leadership, leadership that appreciates and maximizes the contributions of everyone regardless of their gender, race, sexual orientation, body shape, ethnicity, etc., cannot exist in this paradigm, as blame requires everyone finding some flaw in themselves, each other, and the circumstances. I will introduce a new, more powerful paradigm for inclusion.

Leading Gracefully – How to Lean into Your Strengths for More Impact

Monique Tallon
-

Women have a unique challenge in the workplace in the face of ingrained gender bias. Studies show that leadership is still equated with traditionally masculine qualities, like being aggressive, direct and dominating. However, when women choose to lead with this style, studies also show their likeability and effectiveness suffer.

This unique challenge is called the Double Bind where women are faced to choose between being seen as competent versus being liked. Traditional models of leadership actually work against women, which leads to a lack of confidence and lack of impact. This “Tightrope of Leadership” makes it difficult for women to find an authentic leadership style, and can lead to a lack of motivation, performance or opting out.

Join this webinar and learn more about:

  • A new model of Feminine leadership that allows women to be more authentic
  • How to be assertive without being aggressive to avoid nasty labels
  • How to use empathy and vulnerability to motivate & manage high-performing teams
